The Face of God
Have you ever wondered what it means to seek God’s face? We hear this often but what does it actually mean? Are we supposed to picture an image in our minds of Jesus or what we think God looks like? Is this image then supposed to have some sort of effect in our lives?
I’ve learned that seeking God’s face isn’t about a literal image.
Seeking the face of God is the process by which you ask God questions in your relationship with Him and through His answers, He reveals himself to you.
Seeking God’s face is your dedication to the process He takes you through. When God answers a question on your heart by giving you wisdom He is revealing a piece of himself to you. When God calls you to higher and empowers you to step out on a different path He is revealing His nature to you. When God prepares you for His promises by pruning away dead branches in your life He is revealing His character to you. You know you have seen God when you receive revelations causing you to know him more.
When you make it a priority to ask God daily to purify your heart, to prepare you for where He’s taking you, to show you your path, and to tell you what He wants you to work on, you will find His face in the ways He answers you. As you ask these questions and continuously dedicate time and silence to receive the answers, you see more of Him and His character - the face of God.
“And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:13, NKJV.
