When God Seems Silent

How many times have you found yourself in a place where you are asking God questions, pressing in for a breakthrough, or seeking an answer during a critical time in your life but you feel like He is silent?

I’ve learned that God’s silence is a necessary part of our growth. It is intentional because it is in this silence that your faith becomes what it ought to be. The silence of God stretches your faith. How? Because it is when He is silent that you seek him out the most. And you don’t realize it, because you’re occupied with feeling defeated and frustrated at the silence, but this process is actually a testing of your faith which produces patience, endurance, and perseverance.

The Bible says in Hebrews 11:1 that faith brings our hopes into reality and becomes the foundation needed to acquire the things we long for (TPT). Faith brings the things we hope for into our reality. Not only that, but our faith frames and provides the foundational support for those hopes. So, the battle isn’t about getting the thing you hope for. Meaning that the battle isn’t really about the answer you’re seeking.

The battle is about the faith that gets cultivated along the way.

The Bible also says that without faith it is impossible to please God. We must have faith. And yes, if we have faith the size of a mustard seed that is enough to move mountains. But think about the strength of such faith. Do you have the kind of faith that can literally bring a thing into fruition? Not by your hands, not by your work, but by your faith for it.

God’s silence brings us into process. I want to encourage you today to submit to this process. Don’t try and rush it. Don’t accept a quick answer because that’s likely not God. The process builds your mind and your heart into what is needed to not only hear from God clearly when He does speak, but to also properly steward the thing He has for you. Thank God that He loves us so much He prepares us for what He has for us. That’s how much God wants it for you. He’s for you. So, instead of being overcome with frustration, choose to be empowered. Know that you are in process. Continue to diligently seek Him and watch for the tests He will bring you through before He answers you. Ask God to shift your perspective to mirror His.

If you want a sure way to engage with God in this process, look up scriptures that speak to the thing you are waiting for God to speak to you about. Write them down. Study them. Begin to declare them and go from there.

I’m excited for you. Let’s do some faith work and watch God show up in a way we’ve never seen Him before.
